The thing that has impressed me the most is how happy these kids seem. It seems that I'm always looking for something externally to make me happy and here people are just happy. A wooden toy, a small piece of candy and sticker is more than enough- it's so interesting how differently I grew up compared to most of the kids we have been meeting.
Before I got to Nepal I thought I would feel bad for the kids who are in orphanages here- but they're some of the happiest, most talented people I've met. While I feel very blessed for what I've grown up with and I'm very grateful for my parents, I can't help but feel a little jealous of these kids who can find happiness in simplicity.
Happiness- it means so many different things to everyone. To one person it may be a mansion and to another it might be getting to eat a meal for the first time in a couple of days.
Coming to Nepal has, if nothing else, has made me appreciate what I have and all the wonderful people in my life.
